How To: O-MEGA Systems and Hydrogen Sulfide Measurement
When measuring hydrogen sulfide (H2S) reduction with the O-MEGA hydroxyl ion fog odor control system, it's important to note that most electronic sensors cannot be used for testing in the reaction area (i.e. inside the wet well structure). The hydroxyl ion reaction with H2S will cause a false positive reading. Electronic sensors must be used outside of the reaction environment where H2S was known to exist. It's also important to note that exposure to sunlight will also cause an increase in the H2S reading. The sensor should be used in shaded areas or the top of the sensor should be covered to ensure more accurate readings.
Hydrogen sulfide monitors with Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) sensors can be used in the hydroxyl ion reaction environment for H2S measurement (but, should not be used in this manner as a safety device).
